Accessing the New CKSD Media Library

Once you have registered as a Mediaco user, the recommended steps for searching for media are:

1.      Use the CKSD Curriculum Professional Library to perform your searches.  The professional library uses the same library program we do in our schools, it will allow you many more searching options {i.e. Boolean, title, general keyword, etc.}.

2.    Once you have the titles you are interested in reserving, go to Mediaco to check for availability.

3.    Before using Mediaco for the first time, you must register.  You will find the icon by going to:

 4.To register, I just use my regular login that I use when I login into the computer.

Enter the required information and click “submit.”

Now you are ready to login!

5. To find information about the media go to the Curriculum Library catalogue.  You’ll find that link in the same place you found CKSD Media Checkout.

Open the online catalog {a.k.a. the “HIP”} and click on the Media Library Tab.

Perform your search using the index of your choice.

Here is the result of a general keyword search for “animals autumn.”

6.   After you find the item you want highlight the call number, copy (Right click and "copy" ) , go back to CKSD Media Checkout.

Paste your call number in the Horizon Call # box.

Click on Search

Click "Check Availability"

You can do another search from this window, make sure you click on "search" after each item,

then check for availability again.

The timeline for media delivery will be the same as last year-Monday a.m. delivery and Friday afternoon pick-up.  Please be sure your items are back in the bin before noon on Fridays, otherwise you will need to hand deliver them to the LSC.

When you are checking availability in Mediaco, you cannot select Monday or Friday, as those are listed as “transit days.”  If you select T-TH, it will reserve the item for the entire week. Every time you enter a new item click "search" then check for "availability."

The Media Library is a work-in-process, so keep checking in to see what new materials have been cataloged.  If you experience problems with the software or you would like to request a particular DVD for the district to buy, let me know.
